Volkswagen South Africa celebrates its leading dealers’ success at the annual Grand Prix awards ceremony.

On 12 May, Volkswagen South Africa held their 29th annual Grand Prix Awards Ceremony at the iconic Kyalami racing circuit north of Johannesburg.

This glamorous event is held to honour all VW’s dealers across South Africa, as it celebrates those dealers who have given their best performance throughout the year. The theme of this year’s event was “Taigo – Let’s Go”, in anticipation of the upcoming release of Volkswagen's Taigo SUV. (You can read all about the Volkswagen Taigo here)

As a company-wide awards ceremony, the evening’s event recognised 86 dealer network colleagues across 15 awards categories with the three most coveted titles being Micro Dealer Group of the Year, Macro Dealer Group of the Year and naturally, Dealer of the Year.

The title of Micro Dealer Group of the Year was awarded to Juraj Dolezal of the Lowveld Group. To be considered for this award the Group is required to have a minimum of two dealerships that contribute a minimum of 2% towards the overall Volkswagen Dealer Sales results.

The Macro Dealer Group of the Year award was handed to Brad Kaftel of industry stalwarts, the Hatfield Group. This was the Group’s fifth consecutive win in this category, no easy feat when you consider that in order to qualify for this category, the dealership must contribute at least 8% towards the overall Volkswagen Dealer Sales result!

The highly coveted Dealer of the Year award was accepted by Lemmy Dolezal of Alan Hudson Motors, a first–time winner in this category. To qualify for this award, the Dealership must deliver the best and most consistent overall results across the business.

Speaking about the event, Steffen Knapp, Head of Volkswagen Passenger Cars said, “The 109 teams that make up our dealer network are a vital part of the Volkswagen business. As the ‘People’s Car’, it is crucial that we acknowledge the people who contribute significantly towards our annual sales and whose ongoing hard work and loyalty help drive the Volkswagen brand. Their accomplishments and dedication should never go unnoticed,”

With this year’s awards now in the hands of worthy recipients, there’s no doubt that VW dealers from across South Africa will begin challenging themselves and their staff, as they strive toward ensuring that they either take home or retain an award at next year’s VW Grand Prix Awards.
