Jaguar Land Rover Recalls Luxury SUVs in South Africa Over Engine Safety Concern
Jaguar Land Rover Issues Safety Recall for Multiple SUV Models in South Africa
Jaguar Land Rover South Africa has announced a safety recall affecting several luxury SUV models sold locally, with owners urged to arrange inspections as soon as possible.
According to the National Consumer Commission (NCC), the recall affects vehicles sold between 2024 and 2026 due to a potential engine-related fault that could create a safety hazard for occupants and other road users.
Which Vehicles Are Affected?
The recall includes:
- Jaguar F-Pace
- Land Rover Defender
- Land Rover Discovery
- Range Rover
- Range Rover Sport
- Range Rover Velar
These models were sold in South Africa between March 2024 and April 2026, depending on the specific vehicle.
What Is the Problem?
The recall relates to a potential issue involving the Front-End Auxiliary Drive belt idler pulley on certain AJ20-D6 engines.
According to the NCC, the component could over-rotate under certain conditions, damaging the engine oil pressure and temperature sensor. This may lead to an engine oil leak, creating a potential hazard for other road users, particularly motorcyclists.
What Should Owners Do?
Owners of affected vehicles are advised to contact their nearest authorised Jaguar Land Rover dealership to arrange an inspection.
If required, the Front-End Auxiliary Drive idler pulley will be replaced free of charge.
Vehicle Safety Remains a Priority
Vehicle recalls are an important part of ensuring ongoing safety and reliability. Owners are encouraged to respond promptly to manufacturer notifications to minimise any potential risks and ensure their vehicles remain safe to drive.
